Seam The World's We Care Clothing Program
As a charity organization that is connected to fashion, Seam The World cares about clothes. We care that many people in Vietnam and around the world don't have enough clothes. We care that when people who don't have enough clothes do have clothes they often don't have the kind of clothing that they need.
Seam The World is looking for people (and their clothes) that want to help change this one outfit at a time. Seam The World's We Care Clothing Program is looking for lightly warn clothes that will make children, women, and men of all ages look good and feel good. We want to show people we care about them so please don't donate unkept clothes that are in bad condition or are unwashed.
Clothing along with food, shelter and family and friends are one of the few necessities in life. Despite living in a world that has more then enough clothes for everyone, the sad truth is that we live in a world that is filled with people that only have a few items of clothing. The few items of clothing that they do have often don't fit properly or are stained and have holes in them. The sight of a child running around in only a large stained shirt with holes in it is a sight that Seam The World has seen far too many times.
Many of us own more clothes than we will ever be able to wear. We have more clothes than we even know what to do with. Our closets are filled with forgotten clothes that take up space and collect dust. Why let clothes sit and collect dust or be packed away in boxes when there are so many people that can benefit from your clothes and put them to good use?
The people that need clothes already have a life that is full of challenges and struggle. Together let's work to make their life easier. Let's help take away the burden and worry that a mother has when she is trying to find clothes for her children, when she doesn't even have enough clothes for herself. Orphanages and children's shelters have so many expenses and different things to worry about without trying to figure out how to have enough clothes for all of the fast growing children that they take care of. Let's use our clothes to help them, to show them that we care about them, and to support the meaningful work that they are doing.
The clothes that we wear or don't wear have a lot of power. We live in a world where people are judged by how they look. All of us know what it is like to have a favorite piece of clothing. That special shirt, pants, or dress that you love to wear. That favorite item of clothing that you look forward to wearing, that item of clothing that just makes you feel good when you put it on. Favorite items of clothing have the power to change how we feel about ourselves and how we interact with the world.
People that don't have enough clothes, or don't have presentable clothes that fit properly often feel inferior and ashamed. This is especially true for vulnerable children that are at a young and impressional age. Your outgrown and unworn clothes have the potential to be someone's new favorite item of clothing. Your clothes can give a child more confidence. Your clothes can brings smiles and joy to children. Your clothes can make mothers and children feel beautiful.
Seam The World also cares about sustainability and the environment. Donating your clothes and moving towards a resource sharing way of living is important for the sustainable future of the world. The acceleration of fast fashion and the role that it is playing in our culture is producing a tremendous amount of waste that is wreaking havoc on our planet. The production and disposal of clothing is one of the biggest polluters and contributors of green house gases. Every 1kg of clothes that is made generates an average of 23kg's of greenhouse gases. Donate your clothes and give them a longer life and a better use.
